Collaboratively Growing A Mentally Healthy Generation
Mother Duck is working to develop positive, inclusive, and resilient learning communities where every child, young person, educator, and family can achieve their best possible mental health
We at Mother Duck understand the daily demands of busy lives, work pressures, family commitments and challenges faced by our community of Mother Duck Families. The past couple of years have seen our families and communities impacted as a result of a worldwide pandemic and numerous natural and economic disasters.
Now, more than ever this is the time to support this generation of children to become more resilient and mentally strong individuals.
Who are Be You?
You may have heard of Beyond Blue, a program providing information and support for anxiety, depression and suicide prevention for everyone in Australia. Be You is the complementing national mental health in education initiative delivered by Beyond Blue, in collaboration with Early Childhood Australia and Headspace. Be You is founded on experts from multiple sectors including education, mental health, suicide prevention, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education, research and evaluation, behaviour change, and implementation science.
Be You and Mother Duck
Mother Duck is registered as a Be You organisation and is supported by a Be You Consultant. The role of the Be You Consultant is to act as a mentor and advocate to assist with the implementation of Be You at each Mother Duck service when support needs arise.
The most effective approach to mental health prevention and promotion is one that involves the whole learning community – including leaders, educators, children, young people, and their families, and the wider local community. This is what we call a ‘whole learning community approach’, and it involves working together with all members of your learning community to create change. It’s about building a positive and inclusive environment that promotes resilience and allows every child, young person, educator, and family member to achieve their best possible mental health.
Mother Duck is working to build educators know how to work effectively, sensitively, and confidentially with families to foster the mental health of children and young people.
Be You resources
Educators and our learning community have access to the Be You free professional learning, access to tools and resources, and numerous learning opportunities that build educators know-how on how best to work effectively, sensitively, and confidentially with families to foster the mental health of children and young people.
